I saw this adorable owl chart on Amazon the other day. And sure enough, my resident owl - who lives in my backyard right next to my bedroom window - is on the list.
My owl, whom I've ingeniously named Owlie, is a Western Screech Owl. He lives in our old cable dish box. Owls love their boxes and our box was, apparently, a perfect fit for him. The box is small but so is he.
He is the sweetest thing.
I got a good picture of him last year - his eyes making sure I'm not a predator - and he's still with us today. We leave him alone and he has single-handedly taken care of all the vermin. We're going on three years with him. I love Owlie.
Just like in Harry Potter, everyone needs their own owl.
